The hostel facilities at the Himalayan Institute of Technology aim to provide a convenient and secure living space for outstation students, fostering a conducive atmosphere for learning and personal development within the campus community. Himalayan Institute of Technology provides hostel facilities for outstation students, conveniently located within the campus premises. Separate accommodation is available for both girls and boys, equipped with all necessary amenities and security measures. Each hostel is overseen by a dedicated warden who ensures the well-being and safety of the students residing there. The warden addresses any concerns or issues raised by the students and facilitates a supportive living environment conducive to academic success and personal growth. To ensure safety and security the hostels are equipped with CCTV surveillance systems, and security guards are stationed round-the-clock for enhanced protection.
Hostel accommodation is offered to students of all courses based on a first-come, first-served policy. It is important to ensure that all information submitted in the hostel application form is complete and accurate, as any discrepancies or false details may lead to the cancellation of the accommodation offer. Furthermore, the accommodation should be regarded as provisional until it receives formal approval from the hostel authority and full payment of the hostel fees is made.
Students must make a one-time payment covering the hostel fee for the entire academic year, in addition to a refundable deposit, upon admission. This fee covers one academic year corresponding to the Institute’s calendar. Once the room is allotted, students may move in immediately. The full payment of the hostel fees is due one week before the beginning of the hostel tenure.
Occupation or use of hostel premises and property does not confer any tenancy rights or similar claims to students. Students are granted only temporary accommodation under the rules and regulations set by the Institute, which are subject to change. Students will be required to vacate the room within 10 days of completion of the scheduled examination each year.
Students must provide and register the details of a local guardian, with confirmation required from their parents. Furthermore, either the parents or the local guardian are required to sign a copy of the hostel regulations.
Each student will receive a set of keys for their designated room and cupboard from the hostel in-charge. The Institute is not responsible for the safety of personal belongings; hence, students are encouraged to securely lock their valuables in the cupboard. It is advised that students do not leave mobile phones, jewelry, or other valuable items unattended. Unauthorized changes to the locks are prohibited. Students should obtain duplicate keys only with the approval of the hostel supervisor to avoid any losses. When vacating the room, students are required to return the keys in accordance with hostel regulations.
The hostel In-charge or other designated officials from the Institute reserve the right to inspect any student room or belongings within it. These inspections can occur at any time, day or night, and will be conducted in the presence of the students of the room.
Students owning two-wheelers are required to obtain approval from the hostel In-charge by submitting copies of their vehicle registration and driving license. The use of four-wheelers by students is prohibited both on the hostel premises and in the surrounding perimeter areas where parking is not permitted.
The Institute maintains the authority to end a student’s temporary residency for reasons including willful disobedience, defiance of authority, non-compliance with hostel or societal rules as established, causing harm to individuals or property, or engaging in antisocial, anti-national, or other objectionable activities. In these instances, any deposited funds will be forfeited, and no refunds will be provided for previously paid hostel fees.
During vacation periods, students should store their belongings securely in their cupboard, ensuring it is locked.
If the student is not renewing Irrespective of when you have started occupying the hostel you need to vacate the hostel room at
the end of the six semesters of curriculum within the next 10 days.
Students are required to maintain cleanliness in their rooms and the surrounding areas consistently. All trash must be disposed of properly in dustbins or designated disposal areas within the hostel. Additionally, wet clothes should not be dried on furniture or any other non-designated areas.
Ragging is strictly prohibited in any form and constitutes a punishable offense under the law. Violations will result in legal consequences and expulsion from the institute. Inaction or failure to report ragging, including being a passive observer or undergoing ragging without notifying authorities, is also considered an offense and will be subject to similar disciplinary actions. Students are urged to report any incidents of ragging to the hostel In-charge at any time, day or night.
Students are strictly forbidden from bringing, storing, possessing, consuming, or drinking any alcoholic beverages, intoxicating substances, drugs of any kind, or smoking within the room or any part of the hostel premises. This rule also applies to all visitors. Any violation of these regulations will result in severe disciplinary measures, including expulsion from the hostel, rustication from the Institute, and legal consequences in accordance with the law.
Gambling in any form is strictly prohibited on the hostel premises. Violations of this policy will lead to legal action in accordance with the law, as well as expulsion from the Institute.
Students are prohibited from engaging in any political or communal activities that may disrupt law and order or are contrary to governmental policies. Additionally, students must refrain from propagating or publicizing any matters related to political or communal issues within the hostel premises.
Students are not allowed to bring or keep any pets, including fish, cats, dogs, etc., on the premises. Additionally, students are advised against feeding or petting stray animals within the hostel area.
Entry of female students into the boys’ hostel and male students into the girls’ hostel is strictly prohibited. Violations of this rule will result in severe disciplinary action.
Beyond the penalties, fines, and other punishments outlined in these rules, any student found misbehaving or engaging in misconduct will be immediately expelled from the hostel, and any fees paid will be forfeited. Additionally, disciplinary actions in accordance with the Institute’s code of conduct will be taken against students who violate these hostel rules and regulations.
If any common property is lost, damaged, or defaced, the cost of the loss will be equally divided among the students responsible for the damage or those generally using that property. If responsibility for the damage or loss cannot be specifically assigned to individual students, a collective fine will be levied by the hostel In-charge to cover the recovery of the loss.
